Grants and Scholarships
Due to budget constraints, the Society did not award Grants and Scholarships for the year 2024. The Executive Board will be determining 2025 soon.
The 2022 Grants were awarded to the Blue Heron Headwaters (photos) and Gilda’s Club (letter, photos).

The MGSOC Grants & Scholarship Committee will be accepting 2023 applications for projects sponsored, supported, or led by MGSOC members. Projects must be in Oakland County and align with our MGSOC mission statement which is: The Mission of the Master Gardener Society of Oakland County, Inc. is to enrich the lives of those who love gardening. We are volunteers who fulfill our commitment to community outreach by providing hands-on gardening and research-based horticultural education. Members of the Society are Master Gardeners certified by Michigan State University.
Please note that the deadline for submission will be March 31, 2023, and projects will be reviewed, selected and announced by June 1, 2023.

Upcoming MGSOC General Meetings
MGSOC General Meetings are free to MGSOC members. Members are REQUIRED to wear their Master Gardener badges. Visitors are always welcome and pay $5 at the door. Please sign in at the welcome table by 6 PM with Julie Bird. Our business meetings begin at 6:30 PM and our speakers begin shortly after.
Our meetings are held on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at the Rochester Community House, 816 Ludlow Rd., Rochester, MI 48307. Check it out! https://rochestercommhouse.org/
It is a warm and comfortable room, and we offer snacks and drinks. Each month offers an hour or more of educational credit for EMG’s. Except for a few offsite meetings, all General Meetings will be held here.

Part 2 of a two-lecture series: Much of the Western gardening tradition starts here, 900 years before the black plague, and owes its aesthetics to Ancient Persia. Throw aside all of your preconceived notions of the dark ages and explore a period of time that is steeped in eroticism, sensuality and strict religious dogma, all of which influenced the European agricultural economies.

MGSOC General Meetings Are Held At
1219 E. Square Lake Road, Bloomfield Hills, MI 48304
When arriving from Square Lake Road (which is the only place you can come in), enter at Gate C (this is NOT the entrance by the barn where EMG’s arrive, it is to the WEST of the building). Our meeting will be held on the first floor in the Bowers Academy Classroom (there is a sign above the door that says Bowers Academy). You must wear your Master Gardener name badge to enter. Please arrive no later than 6 p.m. to find your way and sign in.
