Mary Ellen is an Advanced Master Gardener and Smart Gardener with Macomb County. Her yard is certified as a Monarch Waystation through Monarch Watch, a Butterfly Garden through the North American Butterfly Association and a Pollinator Habitat with the Xerces Society. She is also a volunteer at the Ray Wiegand’s Nursery Butterfly House and a member of the Meadow Brook Garden Club. In her presentation, she will share with us her knowledge of the butterflies of Southeast Michigan. Her presentation will include how to identify several species of butterflies from chrysalis to adult. She will also share with us how to plant to attract butterflies and which plants are hosts for specific butterfly species. Mary Ellen will show an example of a butterfly habitat.
