Grants and Scholarships
The MGSOC Grants & Scholarship Committee will be accepting 2022 applications for projects sponsored, supported, or led by MGSOC members. Projects must be in Oakland County and align with our MGSOC mission statement which is: The Mission of the Master Gardener Society of Oakland County, Inc. is to enrich the lives of those who love gardening. We are volunteers who fulfill our commitment to community outreach by providing hands-on gardening and research-based horticultural education. Members of the Society are Master Gardeners certified by Michigan State University.
Please note that the deadline for submission is March 31, 2022, and projects will be reviewed, selected and announced by June 1, 2022.

the garden is like staging a room~it takes your garden up a notch.

Degree Days and Phenology with David Lowenstein

David Lowenstein will discuss using degree day models for better pest management. This presentation will include an introduction to how MSU's Enviroweather can be relevant for the home or community gardener. MSU's Enviroweather has multiple tools that help Michigan's commercial agricultural industries access local weather information. Learn how many of these tools are applicable to home and community gardens. This webinar will describe why weather modeling is relevant to prepare for the arrival of insect pests, plant diseases, or to identify when different plants will bloom.

MGSOC General Meetings Are Held At
1219 E. Square Lake Road, Bloomfield Hills, MI 48304
When arriving from Square Lake Road (which is the only place you can come in), enter at Gate C (this is NOT the entrance by the barn where EMG’s arrive, it is to the WEST of the building). Our meeting will be held on the first floor in the Bowers Academy Classroom (there is a sign above the door that says Bowers Academy). You must wear your Master Gardener name badge to enter. Please arrive no later than 6 p.m. to find your way and sign in.
MGSOC General Meetings are free to MGSOC members and MGSOC members are required to wear their Master Gardener badges. Visitors are welcome and pay $5.00 at the door. Members and visitors, please sign in at the welcome table. Our business meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. and our speakers begin promptly at 7 p.m.
